Robbyn Abedi
I’m a counselor and coach, and the founder of Cypress Road.
I work with adults who have learned to function well — often exceptionally well — while carrying more than most people realize. Leaders, caregivers, professionals, parents: the person everyone else depends on. I also work with people whose lives aren’t working, who feel stuck in patterns that never quite leave.
Before becoming a counselor I spent years in leadership and coaching roles, and that shaped how I practice. I’m interested not only in symptoms, but in the story underneath them — how you learned to protect yourself, and what those strategies cost you now.
You won’t find a one-size-fits-all approach here. My work is integrative, relational, and trauma-informed, drawing on psychodynamic, attachment-based, experiential, and somatic approaches. In practice that means three things:
We get curious about your patterns.
Not only “how do we stop this,” but “what is this doing for you?” Understanding gives you choices where there were only reactions.
We pay attention to your body.
Insight alone doesn’t always create change. Somatic and polyvagal-informed work slows things down enough to hear what your nervous system is saying.
We work with what happens in the room.
Therapy is a relationship. What happens between us often tells us something about relationships everywhere else.
I’m active and engaged — I’ll ask questions, notice patterns, and sometimes challenge you. We’ll laugh sometimes, too. You don’t need to arrive knowing what’s wrong; part of the work is figuring that out together.
Not just surviving what you’ve been through. Building the resilience to choose what comes next.
