You don't have to have everything figured out before reaching out.
Some of the people I work with are successful and functioning well on the outside while privately struggling with anxiety, relationships, shame, burnout, trauma, compulsive behaviors, or questions about who they are and how they want to live.
Others come because life has become much harder to manage. They may feel stuck in addiction, depression, painful relationships, or patterns they haven't been able to change on their own.
Part of our first conversations will be deciding whether I’m the right person to help and what kind of work makes sense for you.

Yes. Counseling services at Cypress Road are provided by Robbyn Abedi, A-LPC (Associate Licensed Professional Counselor, Tennessee License #8314), under the clinical supervision of Paul M. Hambrick, LPC-MHSP (Tennessee License #2831).

I primarily work with adults and also see adolescents on a case-by-case basis.
Common areas of my work include trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship and attachment difficulties, shame, codependency, addiction and compulsive behaviors, burnout, identity, major life transitions, and complicated experiences with religion or spirituality.
When working with adolescents, I want therapy to become a place where the young person can develop a meaningful therapeutic relationship while appropriately involving parents or caregivers.

The first session is primarily about getting to know one another. I'll want to understand what brought you in, what life looks like right now, some of the experiences that have shaped you, and what you hope might be different.
You don't need to arrive with a perfectly organized story. We'll start where you are.
-
Yes. I offer a brief consultation to hear what you're looking for, answer initial questions, and determine whether Cypress Road seems like a good fit.
A consultation isn't therapy and doesn't obligate you to schedule. It's simply an opportunity for both of us to decide whether working together makes sense.
You can schedule a time here.

Most clients begin by meeting weekly, although frequency can vary depending on your needs.
There isn't a predetermined length of therapy. Some people come with something specific they want to address. Others want deeper work around longstanding patterns, relationships, trauma, or identity.
We'll periodically talk about how the work is going and whether it's helping.
-
Yes. For some people, spirituality is an important source of meaning and connection. For others, religion has been associated with shame, fear, control, rejection, or painful experiences. Sometimes it's both.
Therapy can provide space to explore those experiences without requiring you to defend religion, reject it, return to it, or reach any particular conclusion.
Your beliefs—and what you choose to do with them—belong to you.

Counseling and coaching can sometimes look similar, but they are different relationships.
Counseling is mental healthcare and can involve assessment and treatment of mental health concerns, trauma, and significant emotional or relational difficulties.
Coaching is generally more focused on development, leadership, resilience, decision-making, transitions, and creating change in the present and future. It does not diagnose or treat mental health disorders and isn't a substitute for psychotherapy.
You don't have to determine which one you need before contacting me. We'll talk
about what you're looking for and determine which service is appropriate.
-
Yes. Cypress Road offers in-person counseling in Memphis as well as secure telehealth appointments for counseling clients who are physically located in Tennessee.
Coaching is a separate service and may be available to people outside Tennessee depending on their needs and circumstances.
-
Cypress Road is a private-pay practice. Fees will be clearly discussed before we begin so there aren't surprises about the financial side of our work.
I do not bill insurance directly. Depending on your plan and the services you receive, you may be eligible for out-of-network reimbursement. You should contact your insurance provider to understand your specific benefits.
Coaching is not psychotherapy or healthcare and is not eligible for health insurance reimbursement.
-
Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you, so appointments canceled or rescheduled without sufficient notice may be charged the full session fee. You'll receive the complete cancellation policy before beginning services.
What you share in counseling is generally confidential, with certain exceptions required by law and professional ethics. We'll discuss those limits before beginning therapy.
Cypress Road is not an emergency or crisis service, and messages may not be monitored immediately. If you are experiencing an immediate mental health emergency, are in danger, or believe you may harm yourself or someone else, call 911, go to the nearest emergency department, or call or text 988.
