About Me

I'm Robbyn Abedi, a counselor, coach, consultant, and the founder of Cypress Road.

I've spent much of my adult life working with peopleโ€”listening to their stories, navigating difficult conversations, and helping them through some of life's more complicated seasons.

That work has taught me that people are rarely as simple as they appear. We're shaped by our families, relationships, experiences, and the ways we've learned to protect ourselves. Some of those patterns serve us well. Others eventually get in the way.

I'm interested in understanding both.

Before becoming a counselor, I spent nearly two decades in ministry and leadership. That experience gave me a firsthand understanding of the expectations we carry, the systems we belong to, and the tension between who we are and who we've learned we're supposed to be.

I bring that perspective into my work today, along with curiosity, honesty, compassion, and a willingness to ask difficult questions.

I work with people facing anxiety, trauma, shame, burnout, relationship struggles, and difficult transitions. Many are people others depend on, but who haven't had much space to consider their own needs.

I'm not a passive therapist. I'll listen, ask questions, notice patterns, and challenge you when I think it might help. We'll pay attention to your history, your relationships, and what's happening both emotionally and physically.

My approach is grounded in psychodynamic, relational, and somatic perspectives, but I don't believe there's a single method that works for everyone.

I'm less interested in telling you who you should become than helping you better understand who you are.

My hope is that our work helps you find relief from what you're carrying, develop greater resilience, and experience more freedom in how you live.
